Dear WCCUSD Families.
The smoke from the Camp Fire in Northern California has severely impacted air quality for more than a week and has made managing classrooms and supporting students challenging. The smoke has affected some areas of our large, geographically diverse District more than others and the experts have predicted improving air quality each day this week, but the reality has been much different.
Due to the continued smoke, I have made the decision to close schools on Friday, November 16th. This means that all District schools and departments are closed. Many of you will get an early start to the Thanksgiving holiday break and I hope the extra time will allow you to recover from the difficult week we have experienced.
We hope to resume operations on Monday, if air quality allows. If you are scheduled to work next week, please contact your department manager on Monday morning. Remember that schools will be closed all week for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Additional information will be available on the District website and I encourage you to talk to your principal or department head if you have any specific questions.

Thank you all for your continued support of our students. I hope the upcoming holiday week is rejuvenating and filled with joy and laughter.
In partnership,
Matthew Duffy
Superintendent
