SALAD AND PIZZA BUFFET LUNCH TO WELCOME SPRING

Spring weather calls for a salad-and-pizza buffet luncheon for our staff and teachers. Let’s fill up the buffet table with starters, salads, breads, and pizza, using fresh in-season fruit, vegetables, and herbs. To contribute dishes, please sign up here: salad+buffet luncheon.

 

KOREMATSU EXCELS AT NATIONAL HISTORY DAY COUNTY LEVEL OF COMPETITION

national-historyKudos to our students who did Korematsu proud at the National History Day county level of competition last weekend. All of our entries were either first place, first runner up or honorable mention.

Qualifying to the state level of competition on Saturday, May 6, at William Jessup University, 333 Sunset Boulevard, Rocklin, CA 95765, are:

From Mr. Uriostegue, who spearheaded Korematsu’s first year of participation in the NHD:

Korematsu’s participation in the NHD county competition was sponsored by the PTSA.

 

PTSA MEETING FEATURING SPECIAL SESSION “LOOKING AHEAD: WHAT TO EXPECT AT ECHS” AND BAND PARENTS MEETING

The PTSA will meet at 7 PM in the Multipurpose Room. After covering PTSA business, we will hold a session on ECHS, along the lines of “what to expect,” which is specially designed to help 8th graders and their families navigate their way through the first few months of high school. This year, ECHS Principal Edith Jordan-McCormick and Assistant Principal Jay Eirvin will be on hand to talk about academic and administrative matters, as well as extra curricular programs at the high school.

Learn also about what it’s like to be a Gaucho from our panel of student speakers.

So come with questions and get your answers.

Preceding the PTSA meeting is the Band Parents meeting in the band room, starting at 6 PM.

SAVE THE DATES: EL CERRITO HIGH SCHOOL INFO TOURS EVERY THIRD THURSDAY OF MARCH AND APRIL 9 TO 11 AM

El Cerrito High School will host parent tours every third Thursday of the month the next two months. The tours will be from 9 to 11 AM. The tour will start with a question and answer period with Principal McCormick and end with classroom visits lead by Leadership students. Please check in at the main office. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school at 510-231-1437.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: GOLDEN GATE FIELDS ON MARCH 26

We serve hot dogs and beer, (and sneak off to place a few bets). Your PTSA AND the band program will earn $1,000 + tips.

EIGHTH GRADE PROMOTION ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE

With 8th grade promotion only three months away, it’s time to plan the promotion activities this year. While supported by the PTSA, promotion activities will only happen if 8th grade parents step forward. If you would like to lead the committee or be actively involved in the planning of promotion activities, please email korematsuptsa@gmail.com and we will help you set a committee up.

ECHS SIXTH ANNUAL SWING DANCE

Everyone’s welcome to participate in the Sixth Annual Swing Dance, which is a fundraiser for the band program. The evening includes great appetizers, a group dance lesson, and live swing-era music performed by ECHS Jazz Ensemble and Workshop.
